In Kasauli, a cantonment and town station in Solan state of Himachal Pradesh occupies The Central Research Institute (CRI). It was inaugurated on 3rd May 1905 and the first director was Sir David semble. Presently it is the worldwide acclaimed institute in the research and distribution of vaccines. It was originally established with a view to supporting as a referral center for human health issues.

The CRI mainly aims at researching on various health problems and manufacturing the vaccines and act as a pioneer center for health development it is a WHO facilitated center.

With its experience of over 114 years, it has created various landmarks in health management by producing immunobiologicals, surveillance activities, teaching and training in the field of microbiology and vaccinology.

As this hub offers various graduate and master’s programs in microbiology the institute develops another group of capable scientists in the field to fight against modern diseases. It envisages generating vaccines against emerging diseases under cGMP compliance.
