Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple

Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is the place where Lord Krishna is said to have been born. It is the most auspicious place for Hindus in Mathura. This temple is built around the prison cell where Lord Krishna was born when his parents were imprisoned by the demon king Kansa. It is one of the most visited temples across the country and holds an important place in Hinduism.

Various temples were built and destroyed at this place from centuries and the latest structure which you see there was made in the 20th century with the help and funding of various industrialists. It has a grand feel to it and there is a huge structure of the great Warrior Arjuna on a chariot along with Lord Krishna located near the grand entrance to the temple.

The architecture of the temple is beautiful and it has paintings depicting the scenes from the life of Lord Krishna on its walls. There are huge idols of Lord Krishna and Radha Rani in the temple complex. The temple complex has three famous temples Keshavdeva Temple, Garbha Griha shrine and Bhagwat Bhavan. There is also a step well-named Potra Kund which was renovated in 1872.

It is a huge temple and you will be awestruck with its grandeur and fine architecture. You can visit it on any day and it is located near a market. Janamashtmi is celebrated in a grand way here lakhs of devotees visit it on that particular day.
