The road leads to Leh Ladakh from Manali and remains closed during winters due to the snow-fall.

  • You can look for the Sonapani glacier that offers panoramic views and leave you awestruck.
  • There is a religious site that you can witness, Beas Kund, where the Beas river starts from and indulge in sightseeing.
  • You can visit the place during the months of May when you get to indulge in adventurous activities and skiing, skating, paragliding, snow scooter etc.
  • You can set you own roadside camp near the Rohtang pass and stay here and relax.
  • You can take a trek like Manali-Lahaul pass and sulphur springs through which you can enjoy the breathtaking views.

Rohtang Pass Open Date

Due to heavy snowfall in winters, the pass remains closed from November to May. As it opens its doors to welcome tourists on 1st June.

Tourist Permit For Rohtang Pass

Tourist Permit
Only 800 petrol vehicles and 400 diesel vehicles are allowed entry to the pass daily.

Permit Time Frame:
10:00 AM (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)
4:00 PM (200 Diesel and 400 Petrol)

Valid ID Proof
Pollution Under Check (PUC) Certificate
Vehicle Registration Date

Only 60 petrol vehicles and 40 diesel vehicles are allowed entry to the pass daily.

How to reach Rohtang Pass

HRTC and HPTDC run deluxe AC and Non-Ac buses connecting the valley with north India. NH21 connects the city to Chandigarh and Delhi.
