The Himalayan way of experiencing life with trekking and amusing in the snow-covered peaks will never be completed without a visit to the Manali Wild Life Sanctuary. It is a home for flora and fauna which depicts the multifaceted culture of wildlife. The sanctuary stays hardly 2 kilometers away from the main center of Manali in Kullu district.
It was inaugurated in the year 1954 and bores a well-settled animal culture in it. In a widely spread area of 3180 hectares, it carries different species of animals, reptiles, and birds. Many species are protected inside in it namely, the musk deer, flying fox, black bear, leopard, Himalayan striped hyena along with a wide variety of trees including deodar, walnut, and maple, etc.
This virgin forest can be enjoyed with a ticket worth 10 INR. An ideal hour of touring takes 4 hours which starts in the early morning between 9-11 AM. Different transporting facilities are available for visitors to reach there.
The facilities of trekking routes and camping inside this sanctuary would last an adventurous thrilling understanding of wildlife. Best time to visit the Manali wildlife sanctuary is from October to February when the mountain are covers by snow. If you want to enjoy trekking, visit during the summer months of May and June.
