Mandi is one of the major towns of Himachal Pradesh. It is a beautiful place which has lovely weather round the year. This is also one of the oldest established towns of the Himachal Pradesh. Mandi has a large number of temples and is often referred to as “Chhoti Kashi” due to presence of a large number of temples and its location on the bank of the Beas River. Bhootnath Temple is one such famous temple in the Mandi district.

Bhootnath temple is an ancient temple which was built when the city was established during the rule of King Ajber Sen. Shivlinga was dug out of the land when the king saw it in the dreams. A temple was constructed at the same place and dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is a beautifully carved temple and attracts visitors round the year.

The temple is also famous for the Maha Shivaratri festival which is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm. The whole temple is tastefully decorated and thousands of devotees flock to it from all around the world. Special aarti of the Shivlinga is performed twice a day and a Maha Abhishek is done with Panchamrit. This is a treat to watch and makes it a must-visit temple on the occasion. The temple is easily reachable and well connected to the nearest big cities of Delhi and Chandigarh.
